Hypnotherapy is generally distrusted. Some people think it messes with the brain.
Let me explain it In hypnosis, your brain is operating on the Alpha or Theta brainwave. This is completely natural and is the natural state your brain is in whilst dropping off to sleep, or just before you are awake in the morning.
When you are in this state, your conscious mind is in the background and your subconscious is taking in everything - watching over your safety whilst you are resting. Because your subconscious is to the fore, you can learn things much, much faster, or convince your subconscious mind that a particular course of action is for your benefit. Your subconscious mind is not stupid, so it will not take on anything that would be detrimental to you.
But, just what information would your subconscious be tempted to listen to?
Let me give you an analogy. You are sitting watching a film on TV - your eyes begin to tire and you can hardly keep them open. Your eyes close but you still hear everything that is going on round about you. You still hear the TV programme, but just can't open your eyes.
This is the hypnotic state and your subconscious is taking in everything that it hears! This could be a violent film, or it could be positive affirmations. Your subconscious does not distinguish between reality and fantasy! It takes everything as real!
To change old habits etc, it is necessary to re-programme the subconscious. I believe the best way to achieve success in this is to have a recording that you can listen to every day for at least 30 days. Most people who want to quit smoking, for example, are not fully convinced within themselves that they really want to quit! If they were, they would have quit long ago!
Listening to a self-hypnosis recording once a day for at least 30 days reinforces the belief that you really want to make a change to your lifestyle, and then, because you now know you really want to, making the change is easy.

Will I lose control when I am hypnotised? Definitely not! You will not do anything in hypnosis that you would not do at any other time.
Will I tell you all my secrets? No. You can withhold information and tell lies just as easily when you are hypnotised as when you aren’t.
